Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville is Vital to Clarksville and Montgomery County
3/25/2024
Clarksville, TN, March 24, 2024 – Over the course of 2023, Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville played a vital role helping people get well and live healthier at more than 329,000 patient encounters across its hospital and growing network of Tennova Medical Group physician clinics. The essential nature of services Tennova provides was particularly clear in the aftermath of December’s tornadoes when critically needed emergency care helped the community heal.
At more than 94,000 emergency department visits each year, lifesaving medically necessary care is provided for all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Members of the community who cannot fully afford their medical care are provided deep discounts or even charity care and the hospital has resources to help them secure medications and medical support devices. Last year, Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville provided more than $133 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable.
“Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville plays a vital role in our community around the clock, every day of the year to help people get well and live healthier,” said Andrew Emery, chief executive officer for Tennova. “Regardless of holidays or challenging weather, our dedicated team of clinicians and caregivers are using their skills, experience and compassion in service to the patients who are counting on us.”
Other support for community needs includes financial donations for charitable organizations such as Urban Ministries, American Cancer Society and Alzheimer’s Association, and acts of service such as the Jars of Love drive collecting peanut and other nut butters for the Grace Assistance food bank.
Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville applies its resources to medical services, facilities and technologies that patients want to access close to home. In 2023, Tennova opened a Family Medicine location in Pleasant View to serve the patients of Cheatham and Robertson Counties, which also serves as a second location for Tennova Orthopedics. With the hospital’s addition of robotic assisted knee replacement technologies, surgeons can place the implant with a high degree of precision, often resulting in faster recovery times. Civic resources and services are supported by Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville’s tax payments of more than $4.1 million and the payroll of more than $98 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services.
Workforce development remains a priority and the hospital has strong relationships with area colleges and universities, including Austin Peay State University. Each year more than 600 students in clinical majors participate in on-site learning at Tennova, working alongside the hospital’s nurses, rad techs, and more to develop their clinical skills.
Emery continued, “The vital care we provide is only one part of the broad impact we have that adds up to more than $224 million last year. We recognize that our services are essential to this community and we are committed to doing all we can to provide quality health care and make Clarksville and Montgomery County a healthier, better community for all.”
