Diabetes affects more than 25 million Americans and is a major cause of heart attack and stroke. Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living with diabetes through care and education. The self-management program can provide individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to manage the disease and avoid complications.
Diabetes Education
The diabetes self-management education program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association and offers individual attention in a group setting. Topics include blood glucose monitoring, medications, physical activity, coping strategies, goal setting and nutrition. A physician’s order is required to attend the class. Class is held on the second Thursday of every month from 8:30 a.m. – Noon. To schedule, please have your physician’s office call (931) 502-1180 or fax a referral to (931) 502-1177. Diabetes Support Group
Need help managing your diabetes? The diabetes support group offers up-to-date information and peer support related to the self-management of diabetes. The group meets once per quarter in January, April, July, and October on the third Tuesday of the month from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. with lunch provided. Meetings take place in the conference rooms of Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville. For more information, please contact the diabetes program coordinator at (931) 502-1690. There is no charge to attend the support group and a physician’s order is not required. Support persons are always welcome to attend.
Gestational Diabetes Education
The gestational diabetes self-management education class is accredited with the American Diabetes Association and offers expectant mothers information on blood glucose monitoring, medications, physical activity and nutrition. Classes are offered on the first and third Tuesdays of every month from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. To schedule, please have your physician’s office call (931) 502-1180 or fax a referral to (931) 502-1177.
