Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville Offers Birth Education Classes

CLARKSVILLE, TN (July 8, 2023) – Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville is offering in-person birth education classes to help parents and siblings-to-be prepare for those first moments with their newborn. Moms and birth coaches are welcome to attend all classes, which will be instructed by Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville’s birth center staff. There is no charge to attend any of these classes.

Classes include:

• Prenatal Education: Expectant parents will explore topics including anatomy and discomforts of pregnancy, labor and delivery policies and procedures, labor coping techniques, medical pain relief, newborn care, postpartum recovery, and more.
• Baby Basics Class: Tennova Birth Center staff will walk you through what happens once the baby is born, from in the delivery room, what to expect during your hospital stay, and how to care for baby once you go home.
• Breastfeeding: This class will help soon-to-be moms prepare for their breastfeeding journey. It will introduce new moms to the following: positioning and latch, how to tell your baby is getting enough milk, feeding frequency and ques.
• Infant Massage: Infant massage class will provide guided instruction for parents to be able to perform infant massage on their infant. Infant massage offers parents safe and easy to learn massage techniques that reinforce bonding and all-around well-being.
• Sibling Preparation: This 1-hour class is for children ages two-and-a-half and older who are about to become big sisters or big brothers. Topics covered include newborn appearance, behavior and abilities, what it might be like being a sibling, ways siblings can help with the baby, and why siblings are special people.
