Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville to Resume Outpatient Surgeries and Elective Procedures on Monday, May 4
4/30/2020
Clarksville, Tenn. (April 30, 2020) – Patients who have delayed surgery or other non-emergency procedures can now work with their physician to secure care as Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville resumes some outpatient elective services starting Monday, May 4.
The hospital is following Governor Lee’s Executive Order allowing some elective surgeries and procedures in hospitals with a low or no-COVID-19 census.
Numerous precautions for infection prevention, access control, social distancing and patient flow are in place to maintain a safe environment of care. All those entering the building will continue to be screened for COVID-19 symptoms, including having their temperature taken. Patients presenting for PAT, Surgery or Outpatient Services are asked to bring a mask with them for their appointment and to wear while in the building. The daily number of procedures performed is being limited and furniture in waiting areas has been spaced to maintain appropriate social distancing. Cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces and caregiving spaces has been intensified.
Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville will also be opening additional entrances on a limited basis. Patients arriving for outpatient services (i.e. imaging, lab, therapies, cardiac testing, etc.) and expectant mothers may enter through the Main Entrance Monday through Friday during the hours of 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. After those hours, patients will enter via the Emergency Room entrance. Surgery patients (including Pre-Admission Testing) will enter the building through the Patient Pickup entrance. The opening of these entrances does not change our current visitation policy. The only visitors allowed will continue to be:
- A visitor vital to the care of the patient (unique communication needs, etc.)
- Women giving birth may have one birthing partner or caregiver
- Pediatric patients may have one parent/guardian or caregiver
- Visiting a loved one for end-of-life care
Patients scheduling surgery or other invasive procedures will be tested for COVID-19 in advance of the procedure. The hospital is closely monitoring its inventory of test kits, personal protective equipment, medications and other needed supplies to ensure sufficient resources to support the number of patients in care.
“As we reopen elective procedures, safety remains the hospital’s highest priority,” said Dr. David Price, Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville Chief of Staff. “It is important to schedule healthcare procedures that have been delayed so health conditions do not deteriorate. We also want to remind the community that heart attack, stroke and cardiac arrest symptoms are always urgent and that it is safe – and necessary – to seek immediate help in an emergency department for those and other life-threatening conditions.”
If you experience a medical emergency such as stroke symptoms or chest pain that may be a heart attack, a timely response will support the best possible outcome. Don’t hesitate to call 911. Emergency workers know what to do to protect and care for you.
“Our primary concern throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been the health and well-being of our patients’ and caregivers’,” said Alex Villa, Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville CEO. “Patients can be assured that our physicians and caregivers are working diligently to keep every patient safe and that we are taking all necessary precautions to protect them. ”
