5/7/2024
CLARKSVILLE, TN, May 7, 2024 – Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville today announced that Lesley Arcala, R.N., has been selected to receive its Nursing Excellence Award.
This peer-nominated award, given in recognition of the critical role nurses play in treating our patients, was open to qualifying RNs and LPNs working in a direct patient care position who consistently demonstrate characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence. Lesley was chosen for her outstanding contributions in the areas of crisis leadership, team mentoring, and promoting health in the community.
“Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville is fortunate to have many outstanding nurses like Lesley among its ranks. Nurses who deliver exemplary care, compassion and service, who understand the importance of teamwork and mentoring others, who can lead in times of crises, and who are true champions of promoting healthcare in our community,” said Michelle Dickerson, chief nursing officer of Tennova. “With an ongoing focus this year on the selfless efforts of healthcare professionals like Lesley, we are pleased to acknowledge the important contributions of our nursing professionals.
Lesley joined Tennova in July 2018 and in that time has become a leader among her peers. Since joining the organization, Lesley has sought out learning opportunities, including certifications to improve her skills. She worked in the ICU through the COVID crisis at an average of 5 days a week to help her coworkers and community. An ICU nurse, Lesley takes the lead, coaching and training in many situations. She is currently completing her ACLS instructor course, recently completed her CCRN certification, and is also working on her CAP program in education for the ICU and step down units. She recognized a deficit in knowledge in some of the newer staff and wanted to make an impact to elevate care in the ICU.
In addition to receiving the Nursing Excellence Award itself, Lesley received a cash prize and a copy of “Shining the Light on All the Right” by Mark and Bonnie Barnes, co-founders of The DAISY Foundation, an international movement created to recognize and express gratitude for extraordinary nursing.
